Carbonation
Air Liquide provides the carbon dioxide the beverage industry needs to produce the world's favorite carbonated beverages. We provide beverage manufacturers with the highest quality food grade gases.
Carbonation at a glance
Carbonation, or the addition of carbon dioxide into the liquid, is the technique that gives drinks their fizz and makes fizzy drinks possible. Pressurized carbon dioxide is fed into a carbonator to create bubbles, which dissolve in the liquid. When the pressure is released, carbon dioxide escapes from the liquid, which explains why carbonated drinks eventually go flat. Carbonation takes place in factories where beverages are processed and bottled or in places of consumption such as bars and fast food restaurants.
